...She is Claudine
A single mother who combined solar powered lamps, patience and persistence to grow her modest roadside food stand to a sustainable, and still evolving, business to help her family flourish.
By combining the enduring power of women in communities all over the world, and the sustainability and strength of Caterpillar products, we are on a mission to make energy access a basic global human right.
And this year, we are honored to be taking bold action. As we celebrate the 35th anniversary of our 3500 engine, we are also celebrating by giving a 3500 generator to the St. Luke Foundation for Haiti. Over 150,000 lives will be impacted annually because this generator will provide energy access to the organizations that are part of the foundation, including 3 hospitals, 32 schools, orphanages, bakeries and more.
Energy Access Improves Maternal Health and Reduces Child Mortality Rates.
Women’s Employment Increased by 9.5% Where Electricity Was Provided.
Energy Access Increases Chances for Girls to Complete Primary Education.
These are just three reasons, of many, that we at Caterpillar are on a mission to empower women and make energy access a basic global human right. By combining the enduring power of women in communities all over the world with the sustainability and strength of Caterpillar Energy products, this can happen. And the poverty gap decreases. Because when a woman has access to energy, she is able to feed her children. To go to a workplace that has electricity, enabling her to do her job, to further her community. She is able to get educated. She is able to thrive. With energy access, she is capable, driven, enabled. She is…empowered.
And this year, we are honored to be taking bold action. As we celebrate the 35th anniversary of our 3500 generator set, we are also celebrating by giving a generator away to a recipient. The story unfolds on Saturday, September 24 at the Global Citizen Festival in NYC. Come back here to learn more!
A single mother who combined solar powered lamps, patience and persistence to grow her modest roadside food stand to a sustainable, and still evolving, business to help her family flourish.
A strong, independent and driven doctor who has committed her life to helping the people, her people, of Haiti overcome political strife and extreme energy poverty to get the medical care they so desperately need.
An artisan and entrepreneur who turned her craft into a small business that has powered her home and empowered her family and community.
For nearly 90 years, Caterpillar has been making sustainable progress possible, and the Cat 3500 engine platform has been at the heart of it.
The industry standard for over 35 years, with 190,000 engines in the field and more than 3 billion operating hours, the 3500 exemplifies Caterpillar’s long standing commitment to technical innovation.
The launch of the latest iteration of this landmark engine, the 3500E, ushers in a new era of industry leadership from Caterpillar.
To celebrate, and further cement our commitment to progress and accessibility, we are giving away a 3500 generator, and putting power behind one organization as part of our pursuit to make energy access a basic global human right.
